Warm and Fuzzy

Anyone else craving a hug from someone outside of their family? The past month and a half have undoubtedly stirred a wide range of emotions: fear, anxiety, gratitude, hope, and the list goes on. On the other hand, this time presents a unique opportunity to practice mindfulness. We truly have to be where our feet are because the future is so unknown and, quite honesty, anxiety-producing. We are forced to look at the parts of ourselves that upset us. While I personally do not want to confront my perfectionism, rigidity, or body-image, I am showing all aspects of my being some love and gratitude. I challenge you to do the same.

It is one thing to reach out to a friend or family member and express concern or care, but YOU are deserving. As silly as it sounds, check in with yourself. This might mean going for a run, meditating, reading, journaling, painting, or even hyping yourself up in the mirror. Productivity is relative, so be in-tune with yourself and your needs. Appreciate every day of good health by living for moments instead of accomplishments. Until social distancing regulations are more relaxed, relish in that warm and fuzzy feeling you get when you hug a loved one or make someone smile. Although the warm and fuzzies often get lost in the hectic pace of "normal" life, the beauty of this situation is that we can begin to work toward inner peace and make up for the lost moments that constitute a fruitful life.
